In our tests, the performance of this
board is pretty good if you were to run in the official DDR333 mode. We
are also able to run at DDR400 unofficial mode using our Corsair XMS3200
at CAS 2, 3-3-6 which is usually tough on the other SIS 648 boards we
tested so far. In
fact, it was quite a surprise that it scores the best for Comanche4
which is very intensive on the graphics subsystem. Most of them
benchmarks are very similar to the Gigabyte 8SG667.
Compared to the Gigabyte 8SG667, it
does have some neat features like SATA and Firewire. This is definitely
something that comes at the right time. Although it has all these
features, it lacks RAID which is an option available for the L4S8A.
Overclocking wise, we only managed to
run our processor P4 2.4B at 145Mhz FSB. There is no option for you to
FIX the PCI/AGP speeds. This is probably why we can run it at 150Mhz.
FSB wise it has 1mhz steppings from 100 ~ 200 which is something new on
ECS boards.
Installation is very straightforward.
The CD installation is one of the easiest to install. Click one button
and installation went smoothly to install all the necessary drivers like
the USB, IDE drivers etc.
Documentation is in multiple languages
and it has clear documentation on where are the connectors on
board.
The package is cool but it did not come
with the brackets for external USB or 1394 ports.
