ASUS P4GE-V i845GE Mainboard Review (1)

It is a competitive world out there and manufacturers have to think of new ideas to capture a larger pie of the market. ASUS is one of those who dare to change and adopt new standards to make their boards as outstanding as possible. 

P4GE-V is one of the new innovative products that ASUStek releases today on 7 Oct 2002 together with the announcement of the intel DDR333 P4 chipset - Intel 845GE.

P4GE-V is an integrated board with on board video. It will support the future Intel Hyper Threading technology CPUs. Serial ATA is on board (optional) and Gigabit Ethernet (optional) are available too. Promise ATA-133 RAID is on board. IEEE 1394 firewire is also available as an option. Something new from ASUS is the introduction of CrashFree BIOS technology which allows recovery of BIOS thru floppy diskettes. 

As with most of the ASUS products, the BIOS settings are available in multi language. The BIOS also comes with FSB, Voltage tweakings for overclockers. The board also allow you to use old conventional ATX 2.01 PSU without the need to purchase a new ATX 2.03 P4 PSU. On board is also the Soundmax ADI 1980 6 channel audio codec for good quality audio playback together with the integrated graphics.
