Setting up the Digital TV

As DVB-T is transmitted through the air and not via the cable, you have to attach an indoor or Roof top antenna to the TV set. If you plug the TV antenna to the Starhub cable RF Point, you won't be able to receive the digital signals.

The back plane of the TV has all the connectors available. You can use Component In, HDMI, D-SUB (VGA) input.

In our case, we install an indoor antenna to the ANT IN and use RCA cables for viewing Starhub cable tv.

Once the TV is powered on, we press the D.Menu button on the remote control. We are shown with this configuration page. Pressing the OK button starts the scanning of Digital broadcast over the air (DVB-T). You should able to get Digital 5, Digial 8, ChannelNewsAsia, TV Mobile, Dolby Digital 5.1 Test Tone, a Test Tone, ESG, Nokia and some Starhub encrypted channels. Depending on the direction of your antenna and signal strength, you may or may not receive all these channels.

The screen above shows the Signal strength of HD5 on Ch 38 encoded in H.264 AVC

With HD channels, you can switch the Audio format from MPEG to Dolby Digital to give you that cinematic audio experience.
