Full HD 3D Solution to Be Available this month; Digital Camera, IT and Home Appliance Categories Key Strategic Areas for Region’s Success in 2010

SEA FORUM, SINGAPORE – March 2, 2010 – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. set an exciting course for continued growth in the Southeast Asia & Oceania region today as the inaugural Samsung Southeast Asia & Oceania Forum opened at the SUNTEC Singapore Convention Center. Samsung unveiled its breakthrough lineup of Full HD 3D solutions that will be available to the Southeast Asia & Oceania market later this month. The company also showcased innovative new offerings in the areas of digital imaging and home appliance and aggressive growth plans in the IT sector.

Before hundreds of media and partners, a team of executives from throughout Samsung Southeast Asia & Oceania led a showcase of Samsung’s 2010 product lineup, highlighted by the company’s award-winning solution of full HD 3D entertainment products announced earlier this year. A range of new home appliance products was highlighted by the union of sleek design and advanced technology in the areas of refrigerators and washing machines. The display division heralded the arrival of Samsung’s new eBook while the newly merged PC and printer divisions showed off a new design ID for notebooks and netbooks as well as one-touch functionality for all printers.

The two-day Forum was launched this year as one of five events around the world designed to bring a regional market vision to Samsung’s global product and strategic announcements. Samsung’s executives also discussed strategic initiatives and exciting new products to the digital imaging and display divisions. These are critical emerging areas of growth for Samsung to build on its 2009 success. Last year, the company posted record revenues of more than US$117 billion and a full-year operating profit of close to US$9.4 billion. Throughout today’s presentation, Samsung also reaffirmed its commitment to the environment both in terms of innovative new product features and new green initiatives.

“Samsung overcame a difficult economy in 2009 and Southeast Asia & Oceania continued to be a strong hub for both production and rising sales,” said Gregory Lee, CEO of Samsung Southeast Asia & Oceania. “In 2010, we must continue to tap into the fervent passion for consumer electronics in this region by providing our consumers a relentless stream of new products based on technology, superior design and service.”

Creating the Future of Home Entertainment
In 2009, Samsung created the LED TV category, selling more than 2.6 million units worldwide. This year Samsung is breaking new ground in 3D. This month, Samsung will be the first to deliver to Southeast Asia & Oceania a comprehensive 3D TV and AV product line-up, which includes a range of Full HD 3D televisions (LED, LCD and plasma), 3D Blu-ray, 3D home theater systems, 3D glasses and 3D content.

Forum attendees will have the opportunity to take a look at the rich features of Samsung’s new LED TV line-up – the C7000, C8000 and C9000 LED TVs. All of Samsung’s Full HD 3D products possess Samsung’s unique built-in 3D processor and emitter that enable compatibility with multiple 3D standards. Samsung is offering Full HD 3D content on a number of fronts. Samsung televisions and Blu-ray players will feature Internet@TV, which provides access to the world’s first HDTV-based application store, Samsung Apps. Applications are available from leading brands such as YouTube, Twitter and gameloft.

Content will also be available from Samsung’s exclusive partnership with DreamWorks announced earlier this year. To get customers started the 2009 blockbuster “Monsters vs. Aliens” in 3D will be exclusively bundled with Samsung Full HD 3D televisions.
