Dual H.264 video stream playback on ECS H55H-CM Intel H55 ClarkDale Mainboard
Bluetooth 3 Jan 2010

Video playback

In this test, we check out the performance on playing back MPEG4 AVC clips using PowerDVD 9. In a 2nd test, we check out if it is possible to playback two simultaneous streams using both PowerDVD 9 + Windows media player in Win 7 and check out how it affects the CPU utilization levels.

Video clip "The Bourne Ultimatum - Trailer" H.264 1080P clip*

Single Stream

The average CPU utilization is 10.736% with a min of 2.344% and a max of 29.688%

Dual Stream

The average CPU utilization is 11.981% with a min of 2.344% and a max of 33.988%

Looks like the processor is able to handle two streams pretty well.

A similar configured AMD 785G with Phenom II X3 710 o/c to 3.33GHz managed to do a single stream at 14.67% and dual stream at 16.776% CPU which is higher than the Intel equivalent.

* The tests were done on ASRock H55M Pro. As it is  based on the same chipset, the results will be identical.
