Review Conclusion of ECS H55H-CM Intel H55 Clarkdale Mainboard
Bluetooth 3 Jan 2010

Conclusion

Reviewing the ECS H55H-CM reminds me of the old days of the INTEL BX Chipset. It has been years since I last saw a board with LPT1 interface on board. The weirdest thing is that it has HDMI interface but it hasn't got a DVI-D.  ECS has it's BIOS locked down, it has no voltage adjustments nor BCLK adjustment. In fact, ram timings are all preset by XMP. From the looks of it, it also seems to be an OEM board but somewhat has the retail factor in it.

The reason for saying so is because, this board has eJIFFY support, a similar feature found on ASUS known as ExpressGate. With eJIFFY, users no longer need to enter the OS and you can immediately surf the net or do your instant messaging. Pretty neat feature I would say.

Performance wise, this board is runs at the default 133Mhz as it's BCLK with a multiplier of 25x for the Core i5-661. ECS probably does this for best stability and compatibility. Due to the fact that it runs so stable, it also runs slower than the two other boards we tested. So, basically this board has no overclocking features except the multiplier.

The package is pretty minimal and the manual is very concise. The 69 pages English manual did cover various aspects of eJIFFY.

In conclusion, the ECS H55H-CM seems to be the board of choice for OEM customers than for retail. It might not suit the DIY market but for companies that wishes to make boxes with instant access to internet and do not wish to have users meddle with BIOS, this board could be a good candidate. It will also be suitable for legacy applications that still requires a LPT1 port. If the board is priced right, there will certainly appeal to a different market segment of users. .

Price of this board ~ USD 110.
