MS Outlook 2010 -
Social networking, Team Email, Web Apps demonstration
Introduction
Outlook 2010
Setting up meetings is made simpler with Outlook 2010. You no longer need to
find the persons, location, check who is available to schedule a meeting.
In Outlook 2010, it can be made by simply replying with a meeting, it
will create a calendar item and with the mail thread to all in the mailing list.
Outlook 2010 now integrates social networking into the application. Microsoft
has a Outlook Social Connector SDK. Any third party can built plug ins. So far
LinkedIn is building a plug in into Outlook. You can now see the picture of the
employee of the organisation which probably residing in another department or
country. You can now check the user profile.
Microsoft also introduced QuickStep. One such function is the Team Email. It
automatically knows who is within the same team. It is figured out from the
distribution list automatically.
Calendar View now has a My team calendar. It can show the team members calendar
so that you can see the available time slot to meet.
Outlook Web App can be run under IE, FireFox or Safari (Mac) from the cloud. The
web app gives you a full fidelity viewing and light weight editing. It looks
just like what you see on the Outlook 2010 client on desktop.
