Kingston SSDNow M-Series 80GB put to the test using HD Tune

HD Tune

Read Test

In HD Tune, the read tests gives an average read result of 197MB/s. That is slower than what we got in SiSoft Sandra. Anyway, the spec is always up to. Thus 197MB/s is still reasonably high for a MLC SSD drive. REad access time is 0.1ms and there is a CPU utilisation of 2.2%.

Write Test

In the write test, it acquired 78.9MB/s average write speed. From the chart, we can see that there are certain parts of the flash that slowed down the transfer rate. The access time is 0.1ms and CPU utilisation is 1.2%

Read Random Access

For random access test of different transfer size, we can see the tabulated chart below showing the operations/sec, access time and avg speed. For the read test, we can see that the optimal transfer size 1MB as it has an average read speed of 227.298MB/s. The number of IOPs is best when 512 bytes blocks are used.

Write Random Access

In terms of write speed, the average write speed gets peaked at 90.979MB/s with 1455 IOPS. Writing 64KB blocks is the fastest in this case.
