Review Conclusion of Kingston SSDNow
M-Series 80GB Conclusion
As I have been using an old IDE WesternDigital HDD of the size of 80GB (I know it is small) for my destkop. The Kingston SSDNow M-Series 80GB HDD came as a good replacement for it. The bundle package comes with a cloning software from Acronis. This is something that is a plus for the Kingston SSDNow. Simply hook up the original HDD and the new SSDNow HDD to the SATA port of the motherboard. Boot up the supplied CD-ROM. After bootup, you will be brought into a easy to use click and go options to Clone the HDD. As the size of the SSDNow matches the Western Digital IDE HDD. In fact they're of the same size. Cloning is a simple job for this WinXP machine. It took a while to clone the whole 80GB HDD. After which, you can go to the BIOS to set the SSDNow as the boot up drive. All the drive settings remains the same as before but you will experience a way smoother performance during boot up. Instead of the long wait I usually have, it now takes less than 27 secs to boot to desktop (from XP screen till desktop appears after login). To complete my port over, I formatted the IDE 80GB HDD and move all the data files over to the original IDE HDD. The 80GB SSDNow HDD will be the basic disk for all the installations and software. In Conclusion, I would say that the Kingston SSDNow M-Series 80GB HDD brings a lease of new life to the desktop machine i have been using. I now get faster response in launching applications, defragmentation, less heat and noise as compared to a HDD. Temperatures also remain on idle around room temperature of 37 deg celsius as compared to the 44 degrees celsius on a conventional HDD.
