HD Tach

The same findings can be reached with HD Tach, a benchmark tool used to measure HDD performance. Using the SATA, we are getting a burst speed of 77.7MB/s with a 13ms random access time and a low CPU utilisation of 4%. We also get a average read of 48.7MB/s. The burst speed is definitely much slower because it drops to SATA I speed although a SATA II HDD is used.

As for USB 2.0, we get a higher random access time of 13.4ms and a 33% cpu utilisation. The average read is also 34.7MB/s. Burst speed is 35.0MB/s
