Vizo Luxon 3.5" USB/SATA external enclosure 7/7
Bluetooth 28 Apr 2006

Conclusion

The Luxon 3.5" USB/SATA Dual HDD enclosure is an easy to install enclosure. Just a few screws to fasten and slide the HDD into the rack and you are almost done. Tighten a few more screws and hook up the power adaptor with the USB cable or SATA cable connected to the PC, you are ready for maximum productivity. The only thing that you ought to take note is that there is a jumper to be set. It is also good that Vizo makes it possible for the enclosure to support both older IDE HDD and newer SATA I HDD. Take note though the SATA chip limits the HDD to run only at 1.5Gbps and not SATA II speed of 3.0Gbps.

With more and more mainboards supporting eSATA connectivity, such enclosure is definitely needed for users who wants to have portability with the IDE/SATA HDD. Using the normal SATA cable also makes it easier for one to make a RAID with two such enclosures that can be connected to the bracket using SATA cable.

Overall, VIZO has delivered an excellent product, cool and quiet that performs within expectations. It works for both IDE HDD or SATA HDD. The down side is that the Jmicron chipset within the circuitry only makes a 3.0Gbps work in SATA I 1.5Gbps mode.
