Introduction SiS fans will be delighted to see a SIS based AM2 board from PCChips, a subsidary of ECS. As most of you readers know, PCChips is the 2nd brand of ECS that targets the budget users. From the old days of the faithful ECS K7S5A to L7S7A2, 755-A2, PCChips W32 which all uses the various SIS chipsets. These boards turns out to be classics that has served many readers worldwide.
Today, we are again looking at a selling product, the PCChips A33G which uses the integrated chipset SiS 761GX paired up with 956L south bridge. This board supporst the AM2 socket type for dual core processors or the Sempron series. As it is an integrated chipset, it comes with Mirage 1 graphics with 128M Share memory. As Mirage 1 is slower than most of the current integrated chipset from ATi and NVIDIA, it is best to pair up the board with an external graphics card for 3D Games that requires DX9. The baord also comes with 2 channels of DDR2 slots supporting up to 16GB of DDR2 modules. The board has 1 PCIe x16, 1 PCIe x1, 2 xPCI and 1 xCNR slot. In terms of multimedia capabilities, it has a Fast Ethernet connection supported by Broadcom PHY and a 5.1ch audio using ALC655 AC97 codec. There are 2 SATA 1 ports for RAID 0, 1 and 2 IDE channel for PATA HDD. 8 USB ports can be supported in total.
