GeForce 8800GTX - Specifications Pricing
of
Specifications of the graphics cards NVIDIA will launch two cards on 9 November 2006. Both will go on the retail shelves as well. The first model is the 8800 GTX. It runs on a core speed of 575MHz and a memory speed of 900MHz with 768MB of GDDR3. Memory width is 384 bits wide. It will retail ~ 599 USD.
The lower end model is the 8800 GTS. It runs on a core speed of 500MHz and a memory speed of 800MHz with 640MB of GDDR3. Memory width is 320 bits wide. It will retail ~ 449 USD. Below is a chart showing the approximate scores comparing the 8800 GTX to the 7900 GTX. From the chart, it can be seen that the performance can be as 2.0x or more faster than the current 7900GTX in DX9 mode. As for power efficiency, it is quite similar to the ATI's X1900XTX. Power in Watts range from 64.1W~145.5W. GeForce 8800 GTX requires a minimum 450W or greater system power supply (with 12V current rating of 30A). GeForce 8800 GTS requires a minimum 400W or greater system power supply (with 12V current rating of 26A). If you have seen the card, there are two 6 pin connectors. This is because the PCI Express spec allows for 75W from the edge connector plus 75W from each external 6-pin power connector. The GeForce 8800 GTX requires two 6-pin power connectors to deliver the full power requirements of the board while adhering to the PCI Express edge connector and 6-pin connector specification. In Summary, the GeForce 8800 series of cards revolutionalised how we view 3D graphics. PureVideo HD is another great feature for movie buffs. On the next page, we look at some of the graphics images displayed on the 8800GTX demonstration.
