ULi M1695 Dual 8x PCI-E linked
Introduction Last month we took a look at the ULi M1695 chipset and a few days back we saw it can be overclocked up to 400 x 7 using FX-57. We found out that the performance of the ULi M1695 paired up with an ATi card and compared it to a NF4 Ultra board with the same ATi card. Performance is pretty good. In fact, ULi M1695 not only can provide native AGP 8x, good overclockability and comparable results to the NF4 Ultra, it can also tap on the PCI-E standards to take advantage of dual GPUs by linking them up. If you read the review and saw the BIOS screen shots, you would have noticed that it is possible to set it to 16x + 4x, 16x + 2x + 2x or 8x + 8x + 4x. What does that mean ? Basically that means that the board can support Dual 8x slots and 4x can be used for other functions. Looking at the mainboard, there are no dual 8x slots, how is then possible for ULi M1695 to support dual pci-e x 8 ? Read next page to find out more. |
