Benchmarking

On Page 4, we investigated the CCWS 2002 and BWS 2001 results. A number of users requested that we compare the differences in IDE performance.

We used HD-TACH to measure the Read Throughput.

EPoX 8RDA3+ (nForce2)

According to the log file, the following is registered.

Burst speed: 92525kps
Average read speed: 35242

SIS 748 Reference board

Burst speed: 102870kps
Average read speed: 35242

The SiS 748 IDE performance is definitely much better than the nForce2 not only in Read speed, max, min and average readings. The burst speed of Burst speed: 102870kps surpasses that of nForce2 (92525kps). This is probably one important aspect of SiS 748 which shows a 11.18% difference between the two chipsets. It also confirms why CCWS and BWS which heavily relies on Disk Performance to surpass that of nForce2.
