The following tests are run at least 3 times to obtain a sustain score. MSI 845E Max2 is set to run at the best timings of CAS 2, DDR266, 2-2-5.

1) Best timings at CAS 2, 1T, DDR333, 2-2-2-4 RAM timings to reach the best speed. (async timing)
2) Turbo timings at CAS 2.5, 2T, DDR266, 3-3-3-6 RAM timings. (sync timing)

All above setup are set to operate with an AGP aperture size of 128MB so that consistent results can be used for comparison purposes.

ZD Winbench99 Disk Winmarks

It is not surprising that most the benchmark results obtain in both application based benchmarks depends a lot on the disk performance of the test system. Winbench99 Disk Winmarks provides us with a better view on it's impact on overall system performance.

As we can see from the chart Intel 845EMD2 i850E and the MSI 845E Max2 both based on the Intel chipset with IIA loaded performs much faster compared to the SiS645DX platform. The speed of the disk marks does contribute to a higher score on the ZD CC Winstone2002 and Business Winstone tests.
