The following tests are run at least 3 times to obtain a sustain score. MSI 845E Max2 is set to run at the best timings of CAS 2, DDR266, 2-2-5.

1) Best timings at CAS 2, 1T, DDR333, 2-2-2-4 RAM timings to reach the best speed. (async timing)
2) Turbo timings at CAS 2.5, 2T, DDR266, 3-3-3-6 RAM timings. (sync timing)

All above setup are set to operate with an AGP aperture size of 128MB so that consistent results can be used for comparison purposes.

Memory Benchmarks

SiSoft Sandra 2002

The infamous SiSoft Sandra 2002 is used to test out the memory benchmarks. Using the same processor on the Intel board, Asus board (SiS645dx) and MSI 845E (i845E), we can see the difference in memory performance. RAMBUS still reigns and i845E DDR266 with a fully tweaked BIOS is close to what the SiS645DX can achieve.

In fact, what happens in real world applications ? Let's continue and take a look at the various benchmarks in the next few pages.
