DFI NB73-EA i845E
Review (1)
DFI is not a new player in the mainboard industry. As one of the fastest growing mainboard company, DFI innovates and improves on design of their mainboard with new technologies making it one of the top notch players in this industry. This can be seen from the new series of 845E/G boards. Gone are the all days where basic functionalities are built on board. DFI NB73-EA promises a product that caters to the power user of today. NB73-EA features the i845E chipset which supports 400/533Mhz System data bus for Intel Pentium 4 up to 2.53G. It has 2 DDR slots for memory expansion. A 6 channel audio audio chipset with SPDIF in/out makes it an ideal choice for home theatre system. On top of that, it also has interfaces to hook up to the optional SC/MS (smart card/Memory Stick) or SC/SD (smart card/Secure Digital Memory card) which is a good feature for people who needs instant access to photos store on Digital cameras. A max of 6 USB ports are supported. On top of these new features, it is also a breakthrough that DFI does provide overclocking on their mainboards. Voltage tweaks, FSB (1mhz stepping) are available. There is also the watchdog function which monitors the system and automatically switch to the previous FSB is it is unstable. Well, DFI has definitely changed for the better and they promised a performance of the big boys at a fraction of the price. In the next few pages, we will take a look at the gallery followed by benchmarks. |
