TimB 9 Dec 2002

Benchmarking

We conducted a number of tests on the setup with the following configuration :

Test System:

  • AMD Athlon TBird 1.333Ghz
  • ECS K7S5A DDR266 Async mode CAS 2, 2-2-6
  • Corsair 256MB XMS3200 DDR400 module
  • Kingston 256MB PC2100 DDR266 module
  • Creative 3D Blaster GF4 Ti4200 64MB with Detonator 40.72 WHQL
  • Western Digital 40GB Caviar ATA100 7200RPM
  • Philips 32x4x4x CDRW
  • VIP 550W PSU.

Quake 3 Arena Demo001

This benchmark was run using the demo at all the maximum settings. Again as in a similar manner to the Comanche 4 benchmark, the overclocking of the card yields only a small increase in performance. The extra cpu speed and memory bandwidth at the increased FSB clearly indicates that the card has more to offer.

A 1.4% increase is noted using 133(266DDR)FSB over the default clocks. This increases to 11.1% at 147(294DDR)FSB. Further increase in CPU speed would enhance the score.
