Benchmarking

We conducted a number of tests on the setup with the following configuration :

Test System:

  • AMD Athlon TBird 1.333Ghz
  • ECS K7S5A DDR266 Async mode CAS 2, 2-2-6
  • Corsair 256MB XMS3200 DDR400 module
  • Kingston 256MB PC2100 DDR266 module
  • Creative 3D Blaster GF4 Ti4200 64MB with Detonator 40.72 WHQL
  • Western Digital 40GB Caviar ATA100 7200RPM
  • Philips 32x4x4x CDRW
  • VIP 550W PSU.

Code Creatures Benchmark Pro

This benchmark is very GPU intensive. It utilises bump mapping, vertex shaders and pixel shaders to bring real time water reflections and refraction and therefore also provides a good stability test at the over clocked speeds. I was unable to run the official test of this benchmark as it requires resolutions above 1280x1024 which my monitor doesn't support - however using 1024x768 the increase in performance can be seen below.

This benchmark does indeed benefit from the increase in clock speeds which was to be expected. An impressive 11.5% increase in average FPS at the 133(266DDR)FSB over the default clocks. This further increases to 16.2% with the extra memory bandwidth and CPU speed.
