Conclusion of the Kingston HyperX KHX14400D3K2/2G DDR3-1800 (2x1GB) Review @ OCWORKBENCH

Comparison test

Although we are convinced with the fact that the modules can perform at DDR3-1800, we wanted to see if such modules actually gives you a better performance over DDR3-1333 modules. Graphics card used is a NVIDIA 9600GT.

As we can clearly see from the results presented, The Kingston DDR3 module rated at 1800MHz (running in 1600) outperforms the Samsung DDR3-1333 module at a lower CAS rating using a QX9770 processor and NV 9600GT graphics card. By improving the memory bandwidth of the module, it does give an improvement in performance.

We tried to move beyond the rated speed of 1800MHz by overclocking the CPU, it seems to have maxed out at 1800MHz.

Conclusion

The Kingston KHX14400D3K2/2G DDR3-1800 (PC14400) performed as spec with the rated speed. As more Intel processors are able to scale up to 400-500MHz CPU CLK, the Kingston DDR3-1800 will definitely be one of the choices of the overclockers who wants to run it at a ratio of 1:2 to maximise the bandwidth available.
