Benchmarks - 3Dmark2005/3DMark2006

Paired with a Vvikoo 9600GT Turbo on board using QX9770, the mainboard is tested for it's performance in 3DMark05 and 3DMark06.

The same card is paired with a ECS 9600GT with Accelero S2 we reviewed before to test for SLI performance.

As we can see form the chart below, the Gigabyte P35T-DQ6 performs slightly better with the same graphics card, scoring 19009 while the ASUS Striker II Extreme only attained a score of 18449.

As both nForce 650i, nForce 680i and nForce 790i all support SLI configurations, we put them to the test using the same Forceware driver 174.16. To our surprise, the ASUS Striker II Extreme only scored 19425 while both ASRock boards scored 20351 and 20434. Could it be that the overclocked ASRock boards also overclocked the PCIe bus or is it a BIOS issue?

In 3Dmark06, the ASUS Striker II Extreme does better with a score of 11935, 5 points lower than the ASRock Penryn1600SLIX3-WIFI. In SLI mode, it scored 15598, and again, we see that both ASRock boards using the older chipset surpassing the performance of the brand new nForce 790i SLI chipset. This is getting weird. Will this trend continue in the other tests ? Let's see.
