Zen Player for Music and Video in Credit card form factor

Today, we take a look at a just released gadget from Creative Technologies, the Zen Player. Zen Player is smaller, sleeker, lighter and thinner than the ZEN Vision and yet delivers stunning display on its 2.5" credit card-sized form factor. Dimensions : 11.3mm thickness and weighs 69g.

This player has a 2.5 inch TFT screen and supports playback of many video types including WMV9, MJPEG, MPEG4-SP compatible DivX4/5, and XviD in 16.7 million colours. In terms of audio, it supports MP3, WMA, AAC music and unprotected iTunes Plus tracks from the iTunes store. You can now listen to up to 4,000* of your favourite tracks that you have ripped from CDs through your iTunes software. The Creative ZEN also comes with a USB and SD memory slot, so you can add new music, video or photos to the player. Tired of your own videos and music, you can tune into collection of free video and audio podcast channels on www.zencast.com ZENcast or the local radio.

Battery Life wise, one charge of the built-in rechargeable battery provides up to 5 hours of video entertainment or up to 25 hours of music playback.

The player's patented ZEN user interface has a fresh new look for a more stunning visual experience, enabling more information to be viewed on the screen. The Creative ZEN also includes a built-in FM radio with 32 station presets, a voice recorder, and a personal organiser to sync contacts, to do lists, and your calendar to Microsoft Outlook.

We tested the user interface and finds it intuitive. Navigation is simple with the 4 way navigation buttons. Playback of the videos are also very smooth. Audio quality is acceptable for such a portable device.

In conclusion, this hip gadget will appeal to students who loves to watch, listen while on the go.
