Benchmarks - SATA interface

In this test, we take a look at the performance of the 3 integrated graphics chipsets, SIS 771/966 vs NF 6100/410 vs ATi RS485/SB460 in its SB performance with our Hitachi 7K80 SATAII HDD.

Do take note that other than NF6100/410 has SATA II interface, SIS 966 and SB460 does not support SATA II. The results are taken when powered with their own integrated chipset. USB is turned on.

From the charts below, it can be seen that the SiS 966 south bridge has a pretty good burst speed of 128.9 MB/s and took only 3% cpu utilisation. The average read is 46.9MB/s.

NV 410 took the lead as it is a SATA II interface with a burst speed of 210.8MB/s with a CPU utilisation of 2% and an average read of 48.8MB/s

ATi SB 460 has a SATA I nterface with a burst speed of 118.7MB/s with a CPU utilisation of 4% and an average read of 48.7MB/s.
