OCZ Throttle eSATA stick on ASRock X58SuperComputer review
Bluetooth 24 Jun 2009

Introduction

USB Sticks have replaced the floppy disks of yesteryears as the medium for file transfers. As file size gets bigger, USB interface seems to be the bottleneck for such transfers. Manufacturers knew that it and introduced eSATA ports. eSATA ports if you remember first appeared on ASRock mainboards a few years ago. It has garner more support these years. We see eSATA ports on mainboards and even notebooks.

eSATA ports comes in two flavours, one is the traditional eSATA port while the one found on the ASRock X58SuperComputer is a powered one. Powered eSATA ports means that the esata device do not require external power connector to power it up. This mimics the traditional USB ports, where you just plug the USB sticks and it works.

As an alternative to the traditional USB sticks, the OCZ Throttle’s primary eSATA interface offers an incredible 90MB/second read speeds and 30MB/sec write speeds, increasing productivity to new heights. The substantial 16GB stick provides enough storage for your diverse multimedia files including high-resolution photos, high-definition movies, or large quantities of music. Additionally, users can access their data via an auxiliary mini USB port for ultimate flexibility.

This is indeed a very flexible design that most business professionals would prefer over the traditional USB only interface. It also speeds up file transfers. With plug n play capability, there is no need to install additional hardware or drivers. Thus you are ready to use it almost immediately. Other capacities include 8GB and 32GB.
