Review Conclusion of M1 Vodafone MiFi 2352 Mobile HotSpot for Mobile
Broadband
Introduction
Conclusion
In our tests, we charged up the battery and later placed the device near to the
window. This is to ensure best connection. As we have tested the Huawei E960 at
the same location, the M1 mobile broadband network is pretty fast at 2Mbps. It
would be interesting to see if the MiFi 2352 which comes with this SIM card
which we are unsure if it is 4mbps or 7.2mbps plan
We used a notebook and it immediately connects the the MiFi 2352 using the
default SSID and WEP key supplied at the backplate of the device. We did speed
test at speedtest.net for various Asia countries and USA. The results are
promising as it is able to attain a good speed at 8am in the morning. It was
able to achieve close to 4.5Mbps for the downlink and 1.9Mbps for the uplink to
Singapore server. Below are some screen shots.
We did some ping tests to local servers and we were surprised that the ping time
has been slashed down to 35ms on the average. HSPA is really getting closer to
cable speeds as the latency is now improved compared to 100ms on the average in
the past. [More

In conclusion, the MiFi 2352 HotSpot is an innovative product. The only regret
is the short 4 hours battery life. If we were to compare it with the Huawei
E960, the E960 has a limitation as it is a HSDPA device, therefore it's uplink
speed is capped at 384kbps. The MiFi 2352 by Novatel Wireless can reach as
7.2Mbps (downlink) /5.7Mbps (uplink). It is also more portable than the E960. As it is battery
powered, this device can be used anywhere so long there is mobile coverage. It
has a shorter transmission range and does not come with RJ11 for voice calls. As
the device is SIM card powered, you can also use the SIM card in your 3G mobile phone to surf the net and make voip
calls as there is no cap on the bandwidth.
Currently, the device is not sold separately but comes bundled with the M1's mobile
broadband plan.
