Review Conclusion of ECS NGT220-1GQS-F NVIDIA GT 220 DX10.1 Graphics Card
Bluetooth 22 Nov 2009

Conclusion

ECS NGT220-1GQS-F is one of the 40nm NVIDIA GT 200 series graphics cards launched some weeks ago. It can be considered an entry level card that replaces the current position of the 9500GT. The model we tested is the 1GB model using DDR2 memory. As we have mentioned before, the card looks rather simple with an embedded HDMI connector, D-SUB and DVI-D connector at the back panel.

We tested the performance of the card. It is acceptable for some game play but don't expect amazing frame rates from it. Games like Street Fighter IV does quite well. It performs  better when the core is overclock. As the memory used is DDR2-1000. We were able to increase the memory clock to 500MHz without stability issue . The core can also be overclocked to 680MHz (default 625MHz). That also increased the shader clock correspondingly to 1479MHz.

As price is a major factor, the package seems to be quite simple and without much surprises. It is just the drivers CDROM, & Manual.

For PCs that require a media centre and H.264 decoding of BluRay, this card can take care of the hardware acceleration with Purevideo HD support. This card will also be good enough if you don't intend to play too many 3D games at high resolution or with high AA/AF settings.

In conclusion, the ECS NGT220-1GQS-F is something of an upgraded 9500GT with some what better overclockability. It also do away with clumsy audio support thru HDMI port. It is also DX10.1 compliant. If you need something that is faster than your own board graphics e.g AMD 785G or 7050-630a, this card should be a good replacement.
