ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AMD 785G+SB710 Mainboard Review - Introduction
Introduction
Last year, AMD stormed the market with it's AMD 780G chipset which was well
received by many enthusiasts. This July, AMD launch it's brand new chipset the
AMD 785G. The ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO is the first full ATX board we review here at OCWORKBENCH. This board features the AMD 785G+SB710 chipset and support the Phenom II/ Athlon II/ Sempron 100 series processors. Instead of pairing the system with DDR2, the ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO comes with 4 x 240 pin DDR dimm slots and it supports up to 16GB of unbuffered and non-ECC DDR3-1800 (OC) / 1600 (OC)/1333/1066 memory. If you are tight on budget, you can still use the on board graphics to tide you over. In fact, it can power some of the 3D games but at a lower resolution. If you feel that the power is not enough, pair up the iGPU with a supported graphics card and you get Hybrid CrossFire. If you are into 3D gaming and require faster graphics solution. Throw in a single graphics card or run two in CrossFire X for better performance. ( blue@ x16 mode, grey@ x4 mode). For peripheral connections, the south bridge on this board supports 1 IDE channel and 5 + 1 (esata) SATA II ports for RAID 1, RAID 01, JBOD. There is a GbE using RTL8112L featuring AINET2 too. For multimedia users, there is VT1708S audio codec, 12 USB (6 on midboard +6 at back panel) and 2 1394 ports on board. ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO is not
just another AMD 785G board. ASUS has engineered
it to be one of the best boards available. Firstly, if you look at the PCB, you
would notice the word 2oz copper PCB. Looks like ASUS has followed Gigabyte's
footstep in lowering the temperature of the board. On top of that, it has 8+2
phase power degisn, EPU, Express Gate, Q-Fan, CrashFree BIOS3, Mylogo2, ezflash
2. For overclockers, there is Turbo V utility which you can tune the voltages
and clks within Windows. There is GPU NOS for auto overclocking your GPU, turbo
