Review Conclusion of ASRock P45XE-WiFiN Intel P45 chipset mainboard review
Bluetooth 30 Oct 2008

Conclusion

Just like that ASRock P45R2000-WiFi, the P45XE-WiFiN is a product that excels in quality and performance. If you have read our review of the P45R2000-WiFi, you would already have been impressed by the product. P45XE-WiFiN adds on to it's feature set matching the specifications of the 1st tier manufacturers.

Features like Dual GbE, Realtek ALC890B audio, 1394, WiFi/AP, eSATA. These are some of the features that you would see on the expensive ASUS boards are now available on the P45XE-WiFiN. IES was first introduced on AM2 boards and it makes it's first appearance on the Intel P45 P45XE-WiFiN mainboard. This utility helps to conserve energy when the CPU is in idle state. ASRock also added a new feature "Instant Boot". A look at the info sheet tells us that it is actually something to do with STR. Nevertheless, it is a good way to get instant boot (system must be on standby power) within 4 seconds to the desktop.

In terms of Performance, this board performs pretty well against the major brands and other ASRock P45 and P43 boards we compared with. The differences is minute. When it comes to Intel X48, CrossFire performance is still better on the X48.

In terms of overclocking, the BIOS included a large range of FSB and voltage options available. You can see the BIOS options here. In our o/c test, we used a E6550 processor that clocks at 7x333. With proper DDR2-1200 memory, reaching 570x6 shouldn't be an issue. See picture below.

In conclusion, this board serves the needs for those who require P45 performance and CrossFire in future. It has a lot more than the basic features that most users would require and priced at an affordable price against the competitor products. The WiFiN bundle also gives it an edge over other products available in the market.
