In this test, we ran the card in default clk settings at default factory setting of 625/900. We also tested the same card by overclocking it to 740/1000, shader clk is auto adjusted. Forceware used 163.69

The card performs better than a NV's own 8600GT for sure. It recorded a score of 10885. We further overclock it to 740/1000 and the score shot up to 12484. In comparison to the ECS N8600GTS-256MX+, it leads by 4.5%. You are right, a 8600GT overclocked to outperform a factory default 8600GTS.

3DMark06

In 3DMark06, the card 5616 and 6472 (oc to 740/1000). At 6472, it is 300 points higher than a 8600GTS by 5%. Will this work out the same way for other game demos. Let's read on.
