Sony Ericsson K850i / K858c HSDPA phone review OCWorkbench team 30 Oct 2007
Sony Ericsson showcased the K850i (video) at CommunicAsia 2007 Singapore. This phone caught my attention as it is a HSDPA capable phone, allowing surfing of the net at a speed of 1.8mbps. In fact, the more important feature on this phone is it's Cybershot 5mpixel camera. The phone also comes with a automatic lens cover. There is also AF and Xenon Flash for poor lighting. With BestPic™, it's hard to take a bad picture. You get nine shots in quick succession. Just keep the ones you like. You can also improve underexposed pictures instantly with Photo fix. The K850i comes with a 262K colour TFT of 240x320 pixel in size. It has a 40MB phone memory and supports both Sony M2 Memory stick micro (up to 4GB) and MicroSD. The K850i also has a rotation censor. When viewing pictures, you can choose to view it in landscape or portrait mode by just rotating the phone 90 deg to the horizontal or vertical. The image will be rotated accordingly. Have fun with the 3D Marble game by channeling the marble through a 3D landscape. The K850i incorporates a touch censor buttons near the edge of the bottom of the screen. There are 4 buttons (2 on each side) which allows you to make calls, cancel calls, Clear and access the Short cut Key. As the 2 functions share a tiny button, you might press the wrong button. There are no button on the left of the phone. On it's right are volume buttons, A slider button which allows you to choose Video recording, Camera or Viewing mode. Below it is a Camera on/off button which will open/shut the lens cover.
