965GDAG (G965) Core 2 Duo Mainboard Review - CPU and SiSoft Sandra memory

CPU FSB is still a valid and important criteria when judging systems performance. We measured the CPU FSB and documented it as below in 4 different boards and noticed the CPU CLK. As it is a Conroe X6800, the default FSB is rated at 266MHz. As shown below, the three boards has set its default clk quite differently. Both ASRock are accurate on 266MHz while the ASUS board is 1MHz higher at 267.1MHz. The Gigabyte 945G-S3 board runs at 268MHz which is ~ 2MHz higher than other boards in the comparison chart. The Jetway 965GDAG runs at 266.5 which is right on the dot. CPU used on the tests is a Intel X6800 Extreme Edition processor clked at 2.93GHz. AM2 comparative benchmarks are included for completeness. The 4000+ is o/c to 2.81GHz at 10x281MHz on the Foxconn C51XEM2AA-8EKRS2H running memory at CAS 3, 3-3-8,1T cmd with DDR2 running at 1:1 ratio. (DDR2-560). In our test, we set the RAM to DDR2-533 at CAS 3, 3-3-8, 1T for 945G-S3, P5W DH, ConRoeXFire-eSATA2. We can only run 2T on the 775Dual-VSTA, 1T is not too stable. The Gigabyte DQ6 board was ran at SPD which is at CAS 5, 5-5-18 DDR2-800. We tested the it at CAS 3,3-3-8 DDR2-533 in SYNC with CPU and found that the differences in benchmarks are negligible. Only ECS PX1, 965P-DQ6 are based on Intel 965P which officially supports DDR2-800 operation. The Jetway 965GDAG runs at DDR2-800. The benchmarks below shows that benchmark when it is paired up with an external graphics card. It scored 5445/5463. The score is pretty high considering it an integrated chipset. removing the card, we retested it with integrated graphics GMA X3000, it scored 5382/5375. Next >>>
