Launch of Intel Centrino
Duo and Centrino Pro prcessor technologies
Information
The 4 pillars that makes up the new Centrino Duo and Pro are
the processor, chipset, Wireless-N and Intel Turbo memory. Wireless N Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N, launched on Jan. 23, 2007, is
Intel’s latest optional wireless LAN solution available for Intel Centrino Duo
processor technology and supports draft 802.11n as well as IEEE 802.11a/b/g
standards. The notebooks all comes with Intel® PROSet v11.1 WLAN
Software – Feature-rich application provides continued support for legacy and
next-generation Draft-N features on Microsoft Windows 2000*, Microsoft Windows
XP* and Microsoft Vista* via an easy-to-use interface. The Intel®
PROSet/Wireless Software v11 IT Administrator Tool – This optionally installed
toolkit enables network managers to create and distribute WLAN connection
profiles, centrally set driver and application settings, distribute driver and
software updates and package custom settings into a self-installing executable
file. These tools simplify deploying or updating wireless settings and profiles
on notebooks remotely. Intel® Turbo Memory Conclusion You can now complete a report during a 5 hrs flight say from
Singapore to Taiwan without the need to recharge your battery. For light entertainment, you can use it to watch your DVDs
with ClearVideo technology. The image quality is greatly enhanced and will
defintely be the next big thing for HD. The notebooks from various vendors are already on sale. Most
of them are in a similar price range to the Core 2 Duo. So, when you purchase a
notebook, it might be a better investment to get this newer technology. The only
regret is that 12" is scarce, if any it should be in the similar price bracket
to the core 2 duo too.
