Intel Core 2 Extreme
Processor QX9650 Review -
CineBench 10, VirtualDub and
TMPGenc 4.0
Benchmarks - CineBench 10, VirtualDub and TMPGenc 4.0 CineBench 10.0 is probably the first benchmark that incorporates the SSE4 instructions. As we can see from the score chart below. With 1 CPU used, the score is already 300 points higher as compared to the overclocked QX6700. Rendering with 4 processors, we get a much higher score of 11723 versus 10750 (QX6700 oc). That means, we get a 9% boost in performance on QX9650 due to SSE4.. When we overclock the QX9650 to 4GHz (445x9), we score 15664, that is a 33% improvement.
The two other applications that are said to be SSE4 capable are DIVX 6.7 encoder and TMPGenc 4.0 Express. In VirtualDub 1.7.2, we used the DiVX 6.7 encoder for 1080HD and encode the Kitesurfing.avi file (provided by Intel). With the QX9650, it took us 1 min 1 sec to complete the test. When we overclock the QX9650, the speed is still around the same at 1 min 3secs. In another test, we used TMPGenc 4.0 Express, we managed to encode the same video file to WMV9 in 3 min 33 secs with the QX9650, that is 6 secs faster than the same clock speed oc QX6700. With the QX9650 overclocked to 4GHz (445x9), it went down to 2 min 24 secs. That is 86% faster in encoding the video at 4GHz.
