Introduction
With a new RV670 core, it will be able to do
better than it's previous generation cards. Some of the new changes made to the
RV670 core includes the transition to 55nm manufacturing process. This generally
allows the card to scale in performance and generate less heat. The HD 3800
series also features the support of DX10.1 and Shader Model 4.1. This includes
32-bit floating point texture filtering, Indexed cube map arrays, Independent
blend modes per render target, Pixel coverage sample masking Read/write
multi-sample surfaces with shaders, Gather4 texture fetching.
Memory bandwidth has always been one of the bottleneck in graphics systems. The
HD Radeon 3800 series now comes with PCI Express® 2.0 support, which
allows up to twice the throughput of current PCI Express® cards. It
doubles the bus standard’s bandwidth from 2.5 Gbit/s (PCIe 1.1) to 5 Gbit/sec.
Transfer data up to 16 GB/s.
The card also supports ATI CrossFire X allowing scale up rendering performance and image quality with two, three, or four GPUs on supporting chipsets like the AMD 790FX.
For those who are into High Definition Video playback with H.264/AVC decoding, ATI AVIVO HD supports universal connectivity to TVs and displays using HDMI with 5.1 surround sound. The card supports Unified Video Decoder (UVD) for Blu-ray™ and HD DVD and ATI PowerPlay™ energy conserving technology.
The Gigabyte GV-RX387512H-B based on the HD Radeon 3870 GPU comes with 320 stream processors and has a core clk of 775MHz and memory clk of 2400MHz. it has 320 stream processors and the memory bus is 256 bits. The card comes with 512MB GDDR4 (16Mx32).
The card comes with DVI Port DVI-I (Support Dual-link DVI), TV-out,AV out HDMI (by optional adapter) and is HDCP enabled.
The GIGABYTE GV-RX387512H-B graphics card is bundled with the most important and popular Role-Playing Game, Neverwinter Nights 2 (NWN2).
