Gigabyte GV-NX86T256D Silent Pipe II (GeForce 8600GT)
- Conclusion
Conclusion The GV-NX86T256D, in fact comes factory overclcoked to 600/700. Although this is a tested clk speed, we managed to squeeze more performance from this core by increasing the core/mem speed to 661/772. The performance gain is pretty good considering that the NV recommended was 540 and now we are at 661. That is almost a 120MHz increase in GPU Core without meddling with voltages. Although the test results shows pretty good performance for this mid range card, it still falls behind the top notch 9 series DX9 cards (X1900 series and NV 79xx series cards). This is understandable as it was never meant to replace that range of DX9 cards. At high AA/AF and high resolution 1600x1200 cripples the performance of the card. This is largely due to the 128 bits memory width that the GPU employs. Compared to other packages, Gigabyte is generous to budle in the award winning game 'Supreme Commander' The best of E3 2006 Winner. This card is is silent in operation and is more suitable for HDTV buffs as uses a heatpipe to cool the GPU. As for games, it is definitely playable. High resolution + AA/AF is not suggested as it hampers the frame rate. Price NA Pros
