EPOX EP-AT690G Pro IGP mainboard (AMD 690G) Review - SATA Performance
Bluetooth 11 Jan 2007

Benchmarks - SATA interface

In this test, we take a look at the performance of the 4 integrated graphics chipsets, AMD 690G/SB600, SIS 771/966  NF 6100/410 and ATi RS485/SB460 in its South bridge performance with our Hitachi 7K80 SATAII HDD.

Do take note that other than both AMD690/SB600 & NF6100/410 has SATA II interface, South bridges SIS 966 and SB460 does not support SATA II. The results are taken when powered with their own integrated chipset. USB is turned on.

SB600 took the lead with a burst speed of 213MB/s with a CPU Utilisation of only 2% and has an average read of 48.8MB/s. Random access is 13.3ms.

NV 410 took the 2nd as it is a SATA II interface with a burst speed of 210.8MB/s with a CPU utilisation of 2% and an average read of 48.8MB/s.

In fact both AMD's and NVidia South bridge pretty much performs the same. In comparison with the older SB460, the SB600 has improved over its burst speed and also CPU utilisation.

ATi SB 460 has a SATA I nterface with a burst speed of 118.7MB/s with a CPU utilisation of 4% and an average read of 48.7MB/s.
