3DMark05

Before we go into the benchmarks, we would like to point out the differences in gpu clk/mem settings from the various manufacturers. The factory defaults of the GF 8600GTS is 675/1000 while the 8600GT is 540/700.

The cards are factory overclocked.

ECS N8600GTS-256MX+ : 720/1100
Chaintech GSE86GTS-A1 : 743/1100
Gigabyte GV-NX86T256D : 600/720

As the clks are o/c by default, results might differ. In the chart below, we also posted the scores of the card(s) overclocked. The results can be seen with the (oc xxx/xxx).

In the comparison chart below, using 3Dmark05 as a guide, we can see that the Chaintech and ECS 8600GTS cards scoring close to that of a X1950XTX. It surpassed the 7900GT and X1950Pro giving a score of 12 thousand plus close to 13K when overclocked.

On the other hand, the Gigabyte 8600GT card scored 9038, which gets pretty close to the levels of the 7900GT. When overclocked, the scores went up further to 9743.

Do take note that the results are all with factory overclocked cards. If a card is released with its official GPU CLK, you might get a lower score.

3DMark06

In 3DMark06, the 8600GTS cards shows results of close to 6000 with the factory overclocked cards. This score is beats the X1950Pro and 7900GT cards. The score is still a bit behind the X1950XTX.

As for the 8600GT, the score of 4622  and 4978 (oc) falls behind the race against the bigger brother the 8600GTS. Compared to the 7900GT and X1950Pro, it is still a few percentage points behind.
