The ECS Geforce 8500GT uses an uncommon greenish blue PCB, it is not very appealing at first glance however it does look unique from all other red/blue/green cards. The card itself is short and the layout is simple, the fan is very quiet and it still pushes enough air to keep the core cool. There are no ramsinks on the memory chips. While the card is under operation, the heatsink and ram chips felt warm to touch. Heat should not be a problem even if you have a case which does not equipped with rocket science cooling solution. There is one thing special about these memory chips; they are GDDR2 chips. Personally, I do not have a clue why ECS chooses GDDR2 chips instead of GDDR4 chips. Maybe it is to cut down production cost, I am not sure, it is yet to be confirmed. One advantage I could think of by using GDDR2 chips is that these chips runs with lower latency and hence may give a slight edge to 3D performance. Again, I am not 100% sure on that claim, it is just my personal speculation.
