Introduction

With the release of the Phenom series of processors, we have seen more interest in compatible boards that will support this processor.

To take full advantage of the speed, a board support the new HT3 is recommended. ECS sees this an opportunity to revive the glory of old K7S5A with its latest board the ECS A770M-A (formerly known as RX780M-A) based on the new chipset AMD 770 + SB600.

This board supports the AM2+ socket processor and current processors. It can deliver up to HT 5200MT/s. It has 4 DIMM slots supporting up to 32GB of Dual Channel DDR2-1066. On board is GbE, 8 Channel HDA, 4 SATA II (RAID0, 1,0+1), 1 PATA, 6 USB 2.0, 1 eSATA and supports an additional of 4 more USB ports via bracket connectors.

We will take a look at the board and its layout in the next few pages.
