ASRock
ALiveNF7G-HDReady is one of the two boards from ASRock that is based on the NV
7050-630a chipset. As you have seen in the review, the performance of this board
is pretty good. The features on this board are pretty complete. In fact, I
haven't seen many mATX boards that comes with 1394 on board.
Performance of this board is on par with other
7050-630a boards we tested earlier. The GPU CLK makes a difference in the
integrated 3D performance. The default is 425MHz and you can overclock it.
Although it is a board that is HD Ready, the regret
is that it did not come integrated with a HDMI interface. Intead, you get a
D-SUB and DVI-D for video output. You can even do a surround video with that. If
you intend to use a converter, you can get hold of one which converts DVI->HDMI.
For audio, you would have to set the driver to output the audio through Digital
Output Device (HDMI) within Windows.
Overclocking options a plenty for a mATX board. We were able
to POST to 290MHz. Stable at 280x10. The CPU just wouldn't want to go beyond the
300Mark even with a lower multiplier is used.
Overall, this mATX board has good performance and has the
potential. It is a pity that the voltage levels are quite restrictive in its
range, otherwise it would be a good o/c board. If you intend to o/c the board,
make sure you have adequate cooling for the chipset as it runs hot even during
normal usage.
