Benchmark - Knights of the SEA

In the demo call of Knights of the Sea, we tested the card in both catalyst driver. The performance improved with a single card but dipped when in CrossFire mode.

Conclusion

Catayst 7.10 did improve traditional benchmark scores like 3DMark05 , 3Dmark06. The introduction of Software CrossFire isn't a surprise as it has already been available on it's competitor platform. With higher bandwidth PCIe bus, it would be possible to channel such information through the underlying instead of using dedicated bridges.

As we can see from the performance, the software CrossFire gives pretty good performance in synthetic benchmarks. When real games are used, it does not seem to be ready to handle it. Is it due to bandwidth or the way the software driver is written.

Anyway, Catalyst 7.10 should pave way to CrossFire X in the near future.
