Introduction
LG Shines with Gorgeous New HSDPA Handset
• Second handset in the Black Label series
• Stunning full-metal bodied slider with magic mirror screen
• Mega Pixel Auto Focus Schneider-Kreuznach camera and expandable memory
• The first true fashion-phone to offer 3.5G HSDPA connectivity
Singapore, May 3 2007, LG Electronics (LG) today announced the launch of the
highly anticipated LG Shine – a stunning, design-forward slider phone that
brings sophistication and allure together with high technical specifications and
features, including expandable memory (MicroSD card) and an auto focus camera by
Schneider-Kreuznach. The latest in LG’s premium Black Label series of mobile
phones, the LG Shine will be available in 2 variants – the 3.5G HSDPA-enabled
KU970, and the 2.5G EDGE-enabled KE970.
When closed, Shine oozes sophistication with a perfectly reflective 2.2” screen.
Slide open the super-thin brushed metal body and the ‘magic mirror’ full colour
screen comes to life, while Shine’s keys are bathed in a cool blue light. Access
to Shine’s menu system is by an easy-to-use multi-function scroll key.
Also, Shine's equipped with a comprehensive media player with multi-codec
support (MP3, WAV and ACC++) and real spectrum display. Shine also supports GPRS
and EDGE network compatibility, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The availability
of 3.5G High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) in Shine provides unparalleled
data transfer speeds and network capacity, bringing mobility to the next level
by supplying powerful Internet-based and content-rich applications to the
consumers.
“2007 is the year to Shine,” says Mr. Howard Lee, Managing Director of LG
electronics Singapore. “People are naturally drawn to beauty and shiny objects -
they convey messages of happiness, joy, excitement and desire, all the traits
that perfectly describe the Shine phone. With an appeal that goes far beyond the
simple requirement of owning a mobile, LG has yet again raised the bar in the
mobile phone market by blending beauty, sophistication, and technical
innovation.”
Already available in Korea, Shine has sold more than 180,000 units since
November 2006, with more than 3,500 units a day still being sold! LG expects a
significant level of excitement and sales in Singapore following a high profile
launch campaign in the UK fronted by world famous illusionist David Blaine
earlier this year
“As the second handset in the Black Label series, there will be comparisons with
LG Chocolate which was one of the hottest selling phones in 2006. While
Chocolate undoubtedly established LG as a force in the design-led mobile sector,
Shine offers a completely unique proposition, appealing to a wider audience with
a different aesthetic and technological attraction.”
The LG Shine will be available locally at major mobile phone retail outlets from
5 May 2007 priced at $698 (without plan) for KU970 and $668 (without plan) for
KE970.
The LG Shine models are winners of red dot Award: Product Design 2007.
