Conclusion of HTC Touch Synergy Sage edition

Conclusion

The HTC Touch is definitely a gadget that most Windows Mobile users will love to have. Being one of the first to introduce a touch based sensitive interface, HTC Touch has brought windows mobile devices to another level.

Features wise, this phone works quite similarly to other WM6 mobile phones. There is some disappointment when I first test out the phone. This is because the TouchFLO™ technology doesn't seem to be sensitive enough. The options available is basically just to flip through the various system options. Compared to the iphone, it still lacks alot in human interface engineering. As the screen is small, some of the options definitely require the stylus instead of fingers. Keying in SMS might be quite a chore using the Virtual keypad. I would rather use the traditional transcriber instead of the Touch Keyboard or Keypad.

The phone is well equipped with applications ranging from RSS reader to internet explorer to Pocket Powerpoint, Excel, Acrobat Reader, Outlook . The in built WIFI is also a good feature which didn't find it's way into the HTC Touch Dual. If you require additional applications, there are plenty available on the web.

One thing I don't quite like is the location of the SIM card and SD card. There is no written instructions on which way to insert the card. You have to try all 4 combinations for the SIM card to get it working. It is also wierd that you need to open up the battery compartment just to insert the SD card.

Overall, this WM6 phone is probably one of the most compact and lightweight phone around.  Even if you don't use the TouchFLO, the feature set is quite complete. We look forward to a new model which improves on the human UI and with built in HSDPA 3.6mbps.
