BIOSTAR TF7050-M2 7050-630A mainboard review - Conclusion
Bluetooth 24 Jun 2007

Conclusion

BIOSTAR TF7050-M2, the mATX form factor HD Ready mainboard is ready to rock you off your seat with its feast of functions, especially within the BIOS. Although small in size, it has a full fledge BIOS that makes it a classic immediately.

Not only that, it is also the first board that comes integrated with HDMI, D-SUB and TV out all in the back panel. This definitely saves you a lot of time trying to find converters to convert DVI to HDMI. The package comes with a HDMI->DVI converter which you can use for connecting your HTPC to your current LCD screens.

Performance of this board is on par with other 7050-630a boards we tested earlier. We made a check on the BIOS, it seems that the GPU CLK option is missing from the official bios we downloaded off the BIOSTAR website.

Overclocking options are plenty for a mATX board. We were able to POST to 300MHz. Stable at 295x10 with CPU Voltage pumped up by 0.1v. and NB voltage increased slightly above the default. CPU VCore and VDIMM voltage can be adjusted to insane levels but I would advise you not to do that just yet unless you have adequate cooling like water cooled or LN2. It is to my surprise the 7050-630a didnt' run as hot as most other boards I have tested. I suspect BIOSTAR used a better heatsink.

Overall, this mATX board has is shockingly good in stability and overclocking. Image quality produced playing back at 720p is pretty impressive playing back 720p movies. Although it is out of spec, our H.264 TS clip played back well within the CPU limits.
