5th OCWORKBENCH Readers' Award

Best Cost/Performance Mainboard

ASRock was known as the cheap spin-off Asus that produced mainboard and nothing else. Nobody really took notice of them until this year when they came up with the Asrock 939Dual-SATA2. (incidentally, it’s paired with the ULi M1695) It blow the competition away with its cheap cost, yet performance that rivals the more expensive NF4 based boards. They were the first to market with the ULi M1695/M1567 with full support for both PCIe x16 and AGP 8X. This is also the first board to sweep the Gold Award in the 2nd consecutive Year. This is really a Classic.

In the second place, it is a Intel based board running on the older 945P chipset. Although it uses a older chipset, this board does offer value for money for those who wish to jump onto the Conroe bandwagon.

Jetway 775GT2-LOG is one of the first board to adopt the NV 570 SLI intel edition chipset. Its' performance is excellent in comparison with the 965P or 945P boards. The only regret is that it is not as overclockable compared to the 680i or Intel 965P.

Best Mainboard package

Without much introduction, you would have already seen reviews of these board either on OCWorkbench or other sites. The packaging is really superb on all these boards. Not only

Most Popular Mainboard Manufacturer 2006

ASRock did not win any in the best manboard package section, but its innovative and cost/performance boards make it the most popular manufacturer of 2006. In 2006, it has released many different models of Intel based boards and AM2 boards that suits the budget users. Some of these boards has also become a classic.

Gigabyte also made inroads in 2006 with their i965P series of boards. The DS3, DQ6 is something that many will remember.

ASUStek has its P5B series to show the world. The package also outshines most of the competitors and it has one of the largest following in forums.
