Bluetooth

Usage

The phone takes a while to initialise. Compared to the 6680, the keypad is a bit smaller. This makes SMS entry a bit difficult. In normal usage, accessing the various options are quite speedy and we do not experience lags. The direct access short cut buttons on the main screen also helps a lot in accessing the commonly used functions.

Multimedia

The phone comes with 2 cameras, the external camera is a 2mpixel camera and Scene selctions can be chosen to set it to User defined, Potrait, Landscape or for Night shoot and Sports (fast moving). Flash, White Balanace and Colour tone can also be adjusted. Images taken are of resolution 1600x1200.

As for video, videos can be taken at max 352x288 and at maximum or minimum length. For video, the restriction to the length of video is based on the amount of storage space you have on the phone.

The realplayer can be used to playback video clips. MP3 and aac files are playback in Stereo.

Connectivity

This phone has 30MB of internal memory for you to keep all your videos, pictures, midi, mp3 files. The N70 comes with a RS MMC slot and bundled a 64MB RS MMC card as external storage.

Transferring of images, ringtones and Java apps are easy as you can choose to use the bluetooth,  GPRS/3G or  insert the MMC into a Card reader on a PC and transfer the necessary files into it. If you use Bluetooth, the relevant file types will also be dumped into the message inbox which you can click to install or view.

Compared to the K700i, the bluetooth seems a bit incomplete as it does not implement the complete range of bluetooth features except the Object push, file transfer and dial up networking. The interesting add on is the support of bluetooth keyboard which is a plus for the symbian office applications.

Ringtones

N70'ss ringtones are much louder compared to the 6680. The phone supports the ringtone format of MP3, AMR, AAC and MIDI. Compared to the previous generation of Symbian phones like 6260 and 6600, 6680's ringtone level is way better. You would not miss the call even if you are in a busy environment, thanks to the strong vibration of the phone inherited from the 6600 and 6260.
