ASUS P5W DH Deluxe (i975x) Review Benchmarks 11/11
Bluetooth 13 Jul 2006

ASUS P5W DH Deluxe has one of the most interesting designs we come across so far. Just like most 975X boards, it comes with Dual PCIex16 slots for ATi CrossFire. In terms of features, there is also 1394 controller chipset, Realtek ALC882 7.1ch HD audio codec, two Marvell GbE PHY and one Jmicron JBM363 chipset and WIFI access. The heatpipe design with a 8 phase power design for maximum stability also makes this board outstanding among the competitors.

Interestingly, the board has many SATA II ports. In fact there are 5 SATA ports, 3 SATA II +  1 IDE supported by ICH7R in RAID 0,1,5. 2 others are supported by SiliconImage 4723 Hardware Raid controller for raid 0 / 1 (ASUS EZ-Backup).

In terms of performance, the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe performs very well when compared to the two other boards. Although it runs at a slightly higher FSB, the difference shouldn't be far from the default 266.

The board has plenty of overclocking options. With the ES CPU, we can lower the multiplier and increase the FSB and run the RAM at ASYNC mode. In our test, we set the multiplier to its default of 11x. The cpu voltage is set to 1.4v, RAM is set to AUTO and we were able to get it stable at 325 x 11 = 3.57GHz. SuperPI 1M scores 14s.

Overall, the board works well with feast of functions that could come useful. This board is definitely a choice for the performance users who needs the processing power of the Core 2 Duo. Video editors will definitely love the 1394 port. The ASUS EZ-BACKUP feature also makes it easy to do backups. The remote control can also be used to control the system. This is definitely the ultimate board for your Core 2 Duo processor and ATi CrossFire solution.
