Sony Ericsson W800i GSM 900/1800 Walkman Camera Phone Review (5)
Bluetooth 7 Sep 2005

Conclusion
Pricing US / UK

The Sony Ericsson W800i can be considered as an improved edition of the SE K750i. It not only inherits the best of the K700i, it expands the features set bringing it to another milestone. Some of the more apparent improvements include the 2mpixel Auto Focus camera which takes amazingly good shots I would say. The external Memory Stick Duo and USB makes transfer of images and videos simply and faster than the conventional Bluetooth or Infra red. The radio is also enhanced with RDS. At this moment, the radio stations do not carry information on the RDS channels so we are unable to show the goodness of this technology.

One of the major changes is the power that interconnects the phone to charger and accessories is no longer compatible with the older Sony Ericsson phones. What that means is that you can't use your old charge on this new phone. Well changes are necessary sometimes to make way to changes. With this new design, you can pick your own earpiece for music. This is made possible as the ear accessories ends with a mouth piece and a din plug for you to attach your own stereo earphones. Another major improvement is the speed of the UI, it is much faster than the earlier generations of phones.

Overall, it is a nice piece of gadget to own if you have the spare cash. The only regret is that it is not available as a 3G phone. I would get one if it has 3G features.

Pros :

  • JAVA, MMS, GPRS, EMS, irDA, USB

  • External storage - Memory Stick Duo

  • Plug your own ear piece

  • 2.0mpixel AF camera

  • Music only mode

Cons :

  • Not 3G

  • Internal speaker a bit soft
