Samsung SGH-Z107 3G WCMDA/GSM 900/1800 Mobile Camera Phone (5)
Conclusion The Samsung SGH-Z107 is quite similar to some of the GSM models but with the 3G functionality of video calling and video streaming. From the days of usage, SGH-Z107 is a nice fashion 3G phone. I am attracted to Its compact design and nice exterior OLED display the analog clock. Its weighs lighter and is smaller in size than most of the 3G phones out there. We tested out the video streaming and find that the reception is OK. The video is comparable to the ones on other 3G phones but we do see little square blocks. If you ask me to rate out of 10, i will give it 7. My other phone, the A835 seems to do better and I can see the subtitles in the clip much clearer than the Z107. In our daily usage, we found that the battery is quite warm compared to other 3G phones. I am not sure if this is the norm but that does not happen on other brands of 3G phones. With normal calls and video streaming (5 times a day), the standard battery lasted for 1.5 days. As a 3G phone, we would have expected it to have a huge memory to accommodate the media files. What we see is that SGH-Z107 lacks that capability. The more annoying thing is that it even lacks Bluetooth connectivity. With a limited size of only 16MB of free space in the phone, it might not be that sufficient. To transfer images in/out of the phone, we use the EasyGPRS III and data cable provided. You can use the software and pair it up with the infra red port to transfer too. Just like the earlier Samsung phones, we found no way you can upload a JAVA game unless you download it off a WAP site. The phone only supports the MMF 64 channel polyphonic ringtone. It does not support MP3 or AAC. The ringtones are very loud and it is unlikely anyone will miss his/her call. The phone also does not come with a radio. GSM1900 is also not supported. Overall, it is a nice 3G phone to start off with if you are looking for a phone that attracts the attention. In terms of functionality, it still lacks important features like bluetooth and mp3 support. Lets hope that the next version will include all these missing functions. Pros :
